By Liam_A | Friday, October 01, 2010, 11:52
Largely regarded as the home of British Horseracing, it's important that all the fans that flock to Newmarket each year are well fed and watered.
The Golden Hind - Newmarket
The White Hart - Newmarket
Thankfully, the public houses in the town (of which there are many) are of such a standard that customers will not be left disappointed.
Newmarketpeople.co.uk has selected five of the best, although we know you will have your own favourites.
In that case why not let us know below, while also reviewing your favourites in our new look Business Directory.
So, with all that in mind, here is our selection.
White Hart Hotel
Despite offering rooms for the night, the bar at the White Hart Hotel is also available to the public.
During the week, this establishment is the perfect place to go for a quiet drink and something to eat before transforming into a place for partygoers on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Best described as a charming country pub, the Affleck Arms is popular among those who enjoy walking in the local area.
Despite being located outside of the town in the village of Dalham, a trip to this public house will be well worth your while.
Situated on the river, during the summer it is a real pleasant location for a quiet drink and bite to eat in the sunshine.
The Boot Inn
A pub located in the heart of Dullingham, a village just a short drive outside of Newmarket.
The Boot Inn is a pub with a real community feel, with customers able to take part in all sorts of events such as the beer festival, darts, cribbage and golfing trips.
The Golden Lion
Owned by Weatherspoons, The Golden Lion at the Clocktower end of the High Street is the perfect location for those who are on a night out on the town.
A large variety of drinks are on offer, all at extremely cheap prices.
Not just an establishment for boozing, there is a restaurant towards the rear with a big choice of meals on the menu.
The Reindeer Inn
Following a refurbishment in 2004, The Reindeer Inn in Saxon Street has fast become a very popular pub.
Prides itself on being a family pub, highlighted by the fact that it has a special food menu for children.
Four guests wishing to stay overnight, the Reinder offers four superior ensuite rooms.
There you have it, five recommendations from us. Now have your say....
