Having last week brought you the story that Asda was planning on submitting plans for a second store in Newmarket, supermarket giants Sainsbury's and Morrisons have stepped up their pursuit of opening shops in the town.

Newmarket's George Lambton Playing Field, the site in which Sainsbury's are keen to build a store.
Morrisons are currently in the process of handing an application to Forest Heath District Council, with the details being made known to the public next week.
They are believed to be keen on opening a store on the Exning Road.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury's are hoping to build a shop on the George Lambton Playing Fields on a development site which will also include a multi-screen cinema.
Newmarket Town Council are planning to discuss this bid in around a fortnight's time.
Tesco are also keen on expanding their current store on Fordham Road.
Are all these supermarkets needed in a town of Newmarket's size? What other shops would be better for the town?
