Newmarket Town FC Concede Eight

Newmarket Town FC's season so far went from bad to worse on Saturday afternoon when they conceded eight goals away to Brantham Athletic.

Hosts Brantham went goal crazy against the Jockeys, with strikes from Ollie Mann (3), David Grimwood (2), Josh Mayhew (2) and Alex Drennan.

Visiting Newmarket did find one goal in reply, coming courtesy of James Attwood.

The result means that Brantham have scored 14 goals against Newmarket this season, having recorded a 6-0 win at the Cricketfield Road Ground earlier in the campaign.

Newmarket, who are second from bottom in the Ridgeons Premier League, have now conceded 87 goals in just 29 league matches.

They are currently seven points adrift of Wivenhoe Town, who are third from bottom.
