Newmarket Park and Ride to be Scrapped

Newmarket's park and ride scheme looks set to be scrapped by councillors, according to the Newmarket Journal.

The facility was originally brought in five years ago following the introduction of charges for parking in the town.

However, it has now been revealed that it is costing around £26,000 a year to run - money councillors believe could be put to better use elsewhere.

The car park is currently on land owned by and opposite Tesco, which cost £6,000 on to rent.
