Newmarket Hospital will soon end it's out-of-hours service as a way of saving money.

Harmoni, the organisation that provides the service on behalf on the NHS, have confirmed that they will cease the opeartion next month.

Figures have shown that between July and September last year, 421 patients visited an out-of-hours doctor at Newmarket Hospital.

Should the closure be completed, patients will have to travel to Mildenhall Clinic for treatment out of surgery hours.

Councillor Wawrick Hirst told the Newmarket Journal: "I am hugely disappointed with the decision and the fact that we have not been consulted.

"This was an important service provided for the people of Newmarket who are now being told that they will have to get in a car and drive to Mildenhall if they want to see a doctor outside normal surgery hours."

What do you think to the proposal? Should a town like Newmarket have an out-of-hours surgery? Let Newmarket People know....
