Firefighters tackled a blaze on the A14 earlier today.
Traffic is currently being diverted through Newmarket and other villages as the clear up begins.
The lorry, which was carrying car parts and batteries caught alight at around 4am in a lay-by. About 25 firefighters from Cambridge, Newmarket and St Neots tackled the blaze.
The eastbound carriageway reopened at 8:20am but the westbound carriageway (heading towards Cambridge) remains closed.
Police have advised people in the Newmarket area to keep all windows and doors closed due to smoke plume, although the levels have died down in recent hours.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured but was checked over by parademics at the scene.
