Newmarket Councillors have objected the granting of a sex establishment licence to the town's lap and pole dancing club Heaven.

One of the main reasons behind the decision was that councillors were keen for the High Street's image, at a time when it is going through improvements, not to be tarnished.

Jill Buckingham, who is a member of the town's High Street regeneration committee, told the Newmarket Journal: "This sex establishment is in the wrong place and gives a very seedy impression of the town to those arriving in Newmarket.

However, the recent rejection is not the end of the matter

The application will now be decided by the Forest Heath licesening committee.

What do you think about the matter? Should Forest Heath reject the application outright? Let us know your thoughts here...
