Newmarket Town FC started off 2012 in a similar way they ended 2011 by slumping to a Ridgeons Premier League defeat.

On this occasion it was Wisbech Town FC who beat the Jockeys, with two goals in either half at the Fenland Stadium.

Ollie Gale opened the scoring from close range after 11 minutes, before Steven Reid doubled the advantage with 23 minutes played.

Chris Bacon put the match beyond the reach of visiting Newmarket with a penalty on the hour mark.

Seven minutes from time the scoring was rounded off by man-of-the-match Nick Davey, who also had another goal ruled out for offside.

The loss was Newmarket's 19th of the season from their 28 matches. They are second from bottom with 15 points, six behind Wivenhoe Town who are one place above them.
